Scholarships and Work Experience

Scholarship recipients and summer students are mentored by experienced engineers
RILEY annually looks to provide several undergraduate engineers with a unique work experience opportunity.  We look for talented and enthusiastic students with a good work ethic and an interest in working for a specialist consultancy in either our Auckland or Christchurch offices.

As a summer student you can expect a variety of project involvement from fieldwork and logging to client liaison and report writing.  There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and practice new skills in the knowledge that you will be working alongside a helpful and experienced team.
In fact teamwork, and encouraging staff members to develop and apply their skills on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, is key to the success of the RILEY consultancy.
Rather than working in a specific engineering field, students are encouraged to experience different engineering aspects as projects arise.

RILEY maintains a flexible and friendly work environment and is keen to promote social interaction, health and fitness, staff well-being, and a positive team spirit.

RILEY Scholarship

As part of our commitment to engineering excellence, RILEY annually awards Geotechnical/Water Resources Engineering Scholarships to the value of $5,000 to two third year students, for use in their fourth year of study.  Students are strongly encouraged to apply for these Scholarships as the recipient will be offered holiday employment which, in turn, often leads to permanent employment.
The Scholarships are offered via Auckland University and the University of Canterbury.  Contact the relevant Scholarships Office for more information.  The Auckland University Scholarship closes on 30 May, and the Canterbury University Scholarship closes on 31 July.
