Site contamination investigation and management

Riley’s specialist team of experienced geo-environmental scientists and environmental geologists have diverse and complementary skill sets and an extensive knowledge of site contamination.

We undertake site investigations, analyse laboratory results, and provide solutions that meet contaminated land management guidelines and regulatory requirements.

The team is led by contaminated land suitably qualified and experienced practitioners (SQEPs) who have been involved with developing national and regional contaminated land regulations and policies.

Regulations for which Riley site contamination experts have had input:  

  • Ministry for the Environment Resource Management (National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil to Protect Human Health) Regulations (NES-CS) (2011).
    Input to policy provided by Marcus Herrmann, Technical Director – Site Contamination

  • Auckland Unitary Plan – Operative in Part (AUP-OP) (revised 2019).
