Ground Improvement

Environmental risk assessment and and remediation options
Rubbish in Stormwater-241
Environmental and contaminated site investigation experience includes pre-purchase site inspections for private dwellings, commercial and industrial developments; human health and environmental risk assessment; and the selection of remedial options.  The team has also investigated and rehabilitated municipal landfills, wetlands and ponds.
Land contamination occurs when hazardous substances are released onto land or into groundwater or surface water.  Contamination can limit the use of land, cause corrosion to building structures and reduce land and property values.  Councils now require contamination assessments prior to land redevelopment.
There are a number of activities that may cause site contamination including agricultural chemicals; controlled and uncontrolled waste disposal; spillage or leakage of chemicals; storage or transportation of raw materials, finished products or wastes; and seepage from neighbouring land.

Our environmental land specialists assisted with the development of the contaminated land rules in the Auckland Regional Council Air, Land, Water Plan and are familiar with relevant national and international guidelines for contaminated land.
