Assessment of capacities for the service, auxiliary and emergency spillways at Patea Dam. The project included surveys and the development of a hydraulic model in HEC-RAS. Related studies have assessed further options for upgrading the combined spillway capacities. The project has led to the design and construction of a raised spillway wall in masonry block to increase freeboard in extreme events. |

| McKays Creek Flume Replacement | |
| Commissioning of a new siphon pipeline supplying Mckays Creek power station. Work included investigation, detailed design, tendering and construction management. The completed flume replacement created an additional generation capacity of 25 per cent for the scheme. |  |

| Rangitaiki Canal | |
| The Rangitaiki Canal, owned by TrustPower Ltd, is one of the key elements of the Wheao hydro-electric scheme. RILEY designed and supervised earthworks for a sediment trap. Outage of the scheme is required for ongoing sediment removal. The purpose of the trap is to minimise this impact. The design included extension of the existing brown ash lining to minimise seepage losses. |  |
