Habib Ahsan

Principal Water Resources Engineer

Habib joined our water team in this role and we’ve put his 40-plus years of consultancy experience to good use for clients.

Almost half that experience has been in New Zealand, following two decades as a water resources engineer in Bangladesh, Thailand, the Middle East and Australia.

Habib has worked on major Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency projects including Christchurch Northern Corridor and the Northern Corridor Improvements. He has also worked with councils to develop and calibrate hydrological and hydraulic models and flood hazard mapping for many New Zealand rivers.

Areas of expertise include:
• modelling for coastal, river and estuary, wastewater and stormwater catchments, and preparing catchment management plans
• design of stormwater treatment/attenuation devices and reticulations, and coastal defence structures
• flood assessment for land development projects
• dam break analysis and potential impact consequences from dam failure.

OUTSIDE WORK: A busy father of two, Habib also enjoys watching sports, tending his roses and growing fruit and vegetables.
