Joanne has 20 years’ contaminated land experience working as an engineering and environmental geologist in both New Zealand and Europe. Her experience includes private, commercial, regional and local council contaminated land projects involving due-diligence, land management, structural plan changes, site development (rural, marine and estuarine environments, residential, commercial, or industrial), cleanfill/managed fill applications, site management, remediation and land use change. She has undertaken soil and water investigations and risk assessments for sites contaminated with heavy metals, hydrocarbons, pesticides, chlorinated hydrocarbons, PFAS, and asbestos.

Joanne has prepared cleanfill consent applications and negotiated cleanfill acceptance criteria with Auckland Council. She has worked on closed landfill gas, soil and groundwater investigations; carried out monitoring and reporting for a wastewater treatment plant; conducted site investigations and developed site management plans for multiple residential developments on horticultural sites.

Joanne is very client-centric and always seeks beneficial outcomes for clients by fostering and maintaining open lines of communication with clients, consultants, contractors, council, landfill operators and other stakeholders throughout the relevant phases of project work.

Joanne is a member of the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA) and New Zealand Geotechnical Society (NZGS).

OUTSIDE WORK: Joanne is interested in small block farming and heritage food crops.
