New Zealand relies heavily on freshwater for our wellbeing, identity and standard of living. Riley has a key part to play in seeing that we use and manage water well.

Our country has a deep cultural connection with its water resources and our abundance of freshwater underpins the economy. We want future generations to keep enjoying the environment provided by our lakes, rivers and other waterways.

Te Mana o te Wai refers to the vital importance of water and is the central concept of how New Zealand is approaching its freshwater management.

There’s a growing understanding that we must do better. We haven’t always used this valuable resource wisely or considered future needs.

At Riley our close association with water continues through our involvement in engineering solutions around:

  • renewable energy

  • primary production

  • land development and management

  • flood management

  • water supply.

In our role providing guidance and design for efficient use of water resources, we recognise our solutions must also consider the uncertainties of future climate conditions and provide resilience and security for communities.
