Paul Aynsley

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Paul was seconded as a design engineer for two of New Zealand’s largest infrastructure rebuilds after the Christchurch and Kaikōura earthquakes.

These opportunities reflected his broad experience not only from working on earthquake recovery but also on large projects involving roading and mining.

Paul was lead designer on several large rockfall mitigation and slope stability projects. His considerable background in construction supervision brings practical site knowledge to his design solutions.

He also has extensive experience in assessing liquefaction-prone soils and analysing foundations in challenging geological conditions.

Paul’s key areas of focus are:
• retaining wall design
• slope stability assessment
• evaluation of rockfall risk
• site investigations
• derivation of geotechnical design parameters.

OUTSIDE WORK: Paul enjoys spending time with his young family, watching sport and experiencing the Canterbury outdoors.
